General Questions

When should I replace my roof?
The typical lifespan of a roof is 20 to 25 years. If your roof is older than that, it probably needs to be replaced. If you see shingles that are missing or curling, find excess roofing granules in your gutters, or notice leaks (whether water or sunshine), these are also signs that you need a new roof. As your roof nears the end of its life, you may also notice that your energy bills start to rise. If you've seen any of these signs, contact us today!
Which roof material is best?
There are a variety of roofing materials available; which one is best for you will depend on a number of factors, including the architectural style of your home, your budget and how long you want your roof to last. Our roofing experts can evaluate your home's individual requirements to determine which roof material would be best for you.
How long will my new roof last?
The lifespan of your new roof depends on which material you choose. Asphalt shingles typically last 15 to 30 years, while our metal roofs have an up to 40-year warranty. We combine a commitment to excellence in both labor and roofing materials with the best warranty in the industry: a lifetime labor warranty on all labor. We proudly stand behind our work and offer you unequaled service for as long as you own your home.

Metal Roofing Questions

Are metal roofs expensive?
A metal roof costs a little more up front than a traditional shingle roof, but when you consider the lifetime value of a metal roof, they are typically a better value and less expensive in the long term than other roofing materials. If you plan to stay in your home, metal roofs are an excellent investment because they are low maintenance and will last for upwards of 40–60 years.
Do metal roofs rust?
You won't have to worry about rust with our metal roofing options from Sheffield Metals. Galvalume® metal roofing combines the toughness and strength of zinc with the rust-resistance of aluminum, with research showing it could last as long as 60 years without any extreme signs of corrosion. Our aluminum metal roofing doesn’t have red rust, and it can even withstand seawater spray conditions in coastal areas.
Do metal roofs last longer?
Metal roofs last 2–4 times longer than a traditional shingle roof. Our standing seam metal roofs have an up to 40-year warranty, and many metal roofs are known to last upwards of 60 years.

Are metal roofs energy efficient?
Modern metal roofs are very energy efficient. Our material partner Sheffield Metals offers sustainable cool metal roofing that is available in many environmentally smart colors. This energy efficient metal roofing is highly emissive, which means it quickly releases any heat that it absorbs and it returns to its regular temperature quickly. This metal roofing is also highly reflective, so it absorbs less heat to begin with.
Are metal roofs loud?
You may be familiar with the sound of rain falling on the metal roof of an outdoor structure like a barn or shed. While rain on this type of metal roof can be noisy, rain falling on the metal roof of a home will be no louder than other types of residential roofing. Residential metal roofing is installed over a solid wood roof deck, which absorbs sound, plus a home's insulation and attic spaces help to dampen the sound of rain.
Do metal roofs attract lightning?
Even though metal roofs are made of conductive metal materials, they do not attract lightning. And if lightning does happen to strike, your metal roof is actually safer because metal roofs are fire-resistant and non-combustible, so you never need to worry about your roof catching fire.
